Most people have access to good color printers, computer graphics programs, and even templates
they can download online for free in order to make their own personalized candy bar wrappers.

So why pay someone else to do this for you?

We can think of several reasons!

We don't mean to insult anyone's abilities when it comes to graphic arts or to anything associated
with making personalized candy bar wrappers, but before you try to take on this project yourself
please consider a few things:

Abilities of a Graphic Artist

Graphic designers usually go to school for quite some time to learn about layout, balance, color
coordination, and so on.  You can usually tell the difference between anything that's been designed
by a professional versus the same thing that's been created at home by an amateur.

There are so many details involved when creating personalized candy bar wrappers and many of
these details are easily overlooked by those who don't have experience in this area.  For example:

What type of background should you use - busy and colorful or simple and direct?

How do you really fill a design or a wrapper without making it look too busy?

What art or pictures will you use; should you use actual photos of objects or clip art images
instead?  When is one preferred over the other?

How will you balance all the elements of the design so that it doesn't look as if things were
just thrown together but that they were really planned out?

How do you create a design that's clean and simple without making it look boring and
    sparse?

What font will look as if it belongs with the design without overpowering it or fading into the
    background?

How do you coordinate colors to really make them eye-catching and appealing, rather than
    washed out or overpowering?

Far too many people try to design candy bar wrappers simply by taking some fun clip art and
slapping it on a wrapper with a crazy font.  Unfortunately their wrappers usually look like they were
created by children, not by professionals!

The Special Paper Used

If you do come up with a good design for your wrappers, what paper will you use?  Many go to the
office supply store and pick up photo paper but actually, that's the wrong kind of paper!  Photo
paper is usually too thick and doesn't wrap well around a candy bar.  It can also be too smooth,
making the colors smear across the page.

Here at Favors and Wraps we even had to go through several different types of paper before we
found just the right kind that was perfect and that closely resembled actual candy bar wrappers.

Your Time is Worth Something

Suppose you did try to sit down and really give this some thought; you work with different designs,
fonts, clip art, and so on.  You try one color after another for the background, and font after font
until you find something that "kinda sorta" fits.  Then you go paper shopping and spend money on
ream after ream of different types of paper before you find the one that's okay for your wrappers.

Why go through all this?  Your time is worth something, isn't it?  If you're planning a big event such
as a wedding or baby shower,
don't you have better things to do?

What you might also consider is that personalized candy bar wrappers, when done by a
professional, are really not that expensive.  Even if you have a large wedding or shower or other
event coming up, you can still get some beautiful and creative favors for less than $1 each.
Considering all the time and effort it takes to come up with the right design on the right paper and in
the right size, it's well worth it to just pay that small amount that a professional charges!

So consider all these things when thinking about making your own personalized candy bar
wrappers.  You may be able to come up with something acceptable and find some decent paper, but
in the end
the many hours you'll waste doing that are better spent planning your event,
spending time with your family, or just sitting back with your feet up knowing your wrappers are in
the hands of professionals!
